Decorating with Candles - Independence Day style

Pull your Independence Day celebration together quickly with these quick decorating tips:
Supplies needed:
  • Tissue paper (blue and red)
  • Mod Podge
  • Paintbrush
  • Glass candle holder or vase
  • Decorative star punch
  • Tea lights
  • Glue gun
  • Decorative ribbon
Cut stars from the tissue paper with the decorative punch. I found it was easiest if I used four layers of tissue paper and emptied the holding container after every punch.
Paint a coat of Mod Podge onto the glass container. Adhere the cutouts in a random order.
While the Mod Podge is trying, work on the tea lights. Adhere a ribbon of glue around the center of each tea light. Press the ribbon onto the glue, overlapping the ends slightly.
When the Mod Podge is dry, paint another layer over the cutouts. The first layer of the Mod Podge acts as glue; the second layer acts as a sealer.
And voila! Insert a tea light or votive into the container and. Strategically place the tea lights around your space, or creatively use other glassware to act as pedestals.
